Pakistan assures continued support to Sri Lanka

A meeting between Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and Pakistan High Commissioner Major General Umar Farooq Burki took place on 17.08.2022 at the Prime Minister’s Office in Colombo.

The High Commissioner confirmed that Sri Lanka will continue to receive the cooperation of his country, as the two countries have a long and strong friendly relationship.

The Prime Minister expressed his gratitude to Pakistan for its consistant support at international platforms to protect the sovereignty of Sri Lanka.

They held a lengthy exchange of views on the possibilities of developing relations in the fields of commerce, investment, education, technology, tourism, farming and dairy production.

The Prime Minister requested Sri Lankan Buddhists to be provided with the necessary facilities to visit the ancient Buddhist pilgrimage centers including Taxila.

Mr. Anura Dissanayake Secretary to the Prime Minister also participated in this discussion.
