Prime Minister calls for more Indian investments

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena called on the Indian entrepreneurs to invest in Sri Lanka. He made this call when Indian High Commissioner Gopal Baglay called on him at the Office of the Prime Minister on July 26. They discussed the possibility of direct Indian investments and more Indian investments in the tourism sector expeditiously.
The High Commissioner acceded to a request made by the Prime Minister for Indian technical assistance to the renewable energy sector and to upgrade the railways and other public transport sectors.
Prime Minister Gunawardena thanked India for the immediate assistance provided during the current unprecedented economic challenges faced by Sri Lanka. They also expressed commitment to further enhance the longstanding diplomatic relations and cooperation between the two countries.
He extended his felicitation to the newly elected Indian President Droupadi Murmu.
Secretary to the Prime Minister, Anura Disanayake was also present during the meeting.
