We express our deepest condolences on the death of former Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Michael Perera, who was a generous politician.
He will leave the nation with the memory of illustrious service rendered as Speaker, Cabinet Minister and prudent public representative. Freely but directly he stood for the ideology of his camp.
Hon. Joseph Michael Perera had a good understanding of parliamentary proceedings. For many decades, he has carried out a great social mission to the electorate, the country, and the nation, and he had initiated quite a few social concepts for the service of the people.
As a fellow parliamentarian, I remember with respect how we worked together parliament for many years.
With deep sorrow, I express my condolences to all the family, relatives and friends of late Joseph Michael Perera.
May his soul rest in peace.
