Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena called on Maha Nayake of Amarapura Nikaye Most Venerable Dodampahala Chandrasiri Thera at the Gautama Tapowana Vihara at Kalapaluwawa, Rjagiriya and Most Venerable Makulawe Sri Wimala nayake Thera at Mahasangha Headquarters, Narahenpita

The Mahanayake Thera of Amarapura Nikaye said that all parties should work together to solve the country’s economic crisis. It is necessary to strengthen the government mechanism to solve the current issues of the country expeditiously. Due to the lack of effective school education, the number of unemployed people is increasing. Therefore, it is timely to carry out urgent education reforms.Setting up a program to make the country self-sufficientgiving priority to agriculture, alleviating the people’s discomfort by providing fuel, gas and other needs in time, and preparing a system to quickly resolve cases related to temples should be given close attention, Most Ven Chandasiri Thera said. Most Ven Makulawe Sri Wimala Nayake Thera said that when appointing governors, the government should make sure to appoint educated and intelligent people who have an understanding of the province, livelihood, and the people’s attitudes of the province. It is also necessary to give priority to solve the problems of the people immediately. It is very important that the government should intervene to protect the ancient and cultural heritage of the country, the Nayake Thera said.
Paying attention to the matters presented by Mahanayake Thera, Prime Minister declared that he would take steps to implement all possible proposals and provide prompt solutions to the problems faced by the farmers while constantly listening to the advice of the Mahasangha. He further explained about the programmmes launched to increase foreign exchange earnings through the export of local agricultural products.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena pointed out that the advice and blessings of the Mahasangha are expected for the future progress of the government. He also mentioned that the government institutions should function without corruption and irregularities and legal action would be taken against corrupted public officials and institutions.
