Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena held a discussion with Portuguese Ambassador Joao Manuel Mendes de Almeida on further strengthening ties between the two countries when the latter called on him at the Temple Trees on November 6.
The Prime Minister urged Portugal to consider promoting Sri Lanka as a favourable tourist destination in Portugal by introducing a programme similar to the ’Voyage to the East in the 19th Century, tracing the history from Lisbon to Goa’.
