He is also currently the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils & Local Government, a Member of Parliament, and Leader of the MEP which is in alliance with SLPP.

Paying floral tribute to the statue of former Minister and author T.B. Ilangaratne was held today (01.05.2024) near the Temple Trees in Colombo under the patronage of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and with the participation of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

Maha Sangha including Ven. Dr. Bandarawela Wimaladhamma Thera, Chief Incumbent of Kollupitiya Dharmakeerthayaramaya, MPs Gamini Lokuge, Namal Rajapaksa, Sarath Weerasekera and many trade union leaders joined this event.
