He is also currently the Minister of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils & Local Government, a Member of Parliament, and Leader of the MEP which is in alliance with SLPP.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena visited the Chief Prelate Venarable Attudawe Dhammarama Thera on the 01.10.2023, the day in which the annual Esala Maha Perahera festival was held at the historic Sri Sankhapala Rajamaha viharaya.

Minister of State Janaka Wakkumbura, Members of Parliament Yadamini Gunawardena and Mudita de Soysa also joined the event.
