Courtesy Call on Prime Minister by Chief of the Naval Staff of India

Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff of the Indian Navy, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Hon. Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, at the Parliament of Sri Lanka on 23rd September 2025.

The Prime Minister commended the Navy’s vital role in tackling pressing challenges such as drug smuggling, illegal fishing, and safeguarding the livelihoods of communities in the North and East. She underscored the importance of protecting shared maritime resources and expressed interest in enhancing collaboration in joint anti-narcotics operations.

Admiral Tripathi reaffirmed India’s commitment to supporting Sri Lanka and highlighted the growing number of Sri Lankan officials receiving training in India.

After participating in the Galle Dialogue International Maritime Conference 2025, organized for the 12th time by the Sri Lanka Navy, Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff of India, is scheduled to depart the island on September 25, 2025.

The Indian delegation included senior officials. The Sri Lankan delegation comprised Mr. Pradeep Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Prime Minister; Ms. Sagarika Bogahawatta, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister; and Mr. Samantha Pathirana, Director General, South Asia and SAARC Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism.
