Cabinet approval has been granted to enter into the Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) between universities in Sri Lanka and foreign universities.
Accordingly, at the Cabinet meeting held on 15th of December, the approval was granted based on a proposal submitted by the. Prime Minister, as Minister of Education, Higher Education and Vocational Education, to enter into MoUs between universities in Sri Lanka and foreign universities and foreign organizations.
The approvals have been granted to sign the following agreements:
A Project Agreement between the Alliance of National and International Science Organizations for the Belt and Road Regions (ANSO) and the University of Peradeniya, in relation to the organization of an International Water Conference on Climate Change and Environmental Pollution.
A Research Collaboration Agreement and a Material Transfer Agreement between the University of Peradeniya and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, China, aimed at studying the transmission of Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA) among human and animal populations, understanding antimicrobial and biocide resistance, and analyzing genetic diversity.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Kelaniya and the Graduate School of Information Science, Kyoto, Japan, with the objectives of enhancing academic cooperation, promoting friendship through educational, professional, and cultural activities among faculty and students, and conducting joint research, conferences, and workshops.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the University of Vavuniya and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, to establish academic and research collaboration in mutually agreed areas, exchange academic information and materials, facilitate student and academic staff exchanges, and support joint conferences and workshops.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and the University of Vavuniya, to obtain the services of visiting professors for the University of Vavuniya on a contractual basis.
Accordingly, Cabinet approval has been granted for the signing of the above agreements.
Prime Minister’s Media Division
