The discussion focused on further deepening Sri Lanka’s engagement with China, further consolidating the longstanding friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries. Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya visited Tiananmen Square in Beijing on 14 October, where she paid tribute at two of China’s most significant national monuments, the Monument to the People’s Heroes and the Mausoleum of Mao Zedong.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya arrived in Beijing, China, on 12 October for an official visit to attend the Global Leaders’ Meeting on Women 2025, upon the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China. The Gandhi Jayanthi celebrations were held at Temple Trees on 2nd October 2025, to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The event was attended by the Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, together with the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, H.E. Santosh Jha.
