UNICEF Representative’s Courtesy Call on Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

Mr. Christian Skoog, UNICEF Representative, met with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at her office yesterday (01). In this discussion, issues such as improving child protection and education in Sri Lanka, securing child rights, and creating safe learning environments were emphasized.

The meeting was attended by Ms. Teona Aslanishvili, Chief of Child Protection, and the Chief of Education from UNICEF.

Sri Lankan government representatives included Mr. Pradeep Saputhanthri, Secretary to the Prime Minister; Mr. Mahinda Gunarathna, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister; Mr. K. Mahesan, Secretary of the Ministry of Women, Child and Youth Affairs and Sports; Ms. Dayani Mendis, Director General of United Nations and Human Rights, Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Mr. P.C.K. Pirisyala, Additional Secretary of Co-Curricular and Primary Education of Ministry of Education; and Mr. R.M.C.P.K. Rathnayake from the same ministry.
