A meeting between Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya and representatives of the Public Services United Nurses Union was held yesterday (31) at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Public Services United Nurses Union explained about the matters of appointing a suitable person to the post of Deputy Director General, revising designations and grade anomalies of the nursing service, shortage of staff, creating a formal promotion scheme for nurses who have completed training, establishing the Nursing University, and extending the service period of nursing officers to the age of 63 years.
Prime Minister’s Secretary G. Pradeep Saputhanthri, Private Secretary to the Prime Minister Dr. Asanga Wickramasinghe, President of the Public Services United Nurses Union Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thera, Vice President R.K. Batuwita, Treasurer Lakshmi Kodippiliarachchi, Executive Member S.K. Piligala, Kanchana Hemachandra, Director of Nursing of Health Ministry Ashoka Abeynayake, President of the National Nursing Council Keerthy Wanasekara, and a group representing the union participated in this event.
