The Dharma Shakti Puja Vesak festival of community brotherhood organized by the General Conference for the Preservation of National Heritage will be held in Batticaloa this year in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, and Batticaloa Civil Organizations.
For that purpose, Procession from Colombo to Batticaloa to taking sacred relics commenced the journey today (14.05.2024) from Polwatta Dharimakirthyarama temple and the relics disposition was held at the main hall of Temple Trees and left for Batticaloa.
On the next 23rd and 24th, several events including the disposition of sacred relics, Sil programme in Batticaloa city, Vesak Pandals and lanterns display, Dansal and devotional song performance, Art exhibition, Archeological exhibition will be held and it will conclude on the last day (24) with the Dharma Shakti Puja Pranamabhivandan ceremony.
Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena joined in worshiping the sacred relics at the Temple Trees, and Maha Sangha including Ven. Hegoda Vipassi Thera, Director of Ratmalana Dharma Paryeshanalaya, Senior Professor Ven. Induragare Dhammarathana Thera, Ven. Professor Ittademaliye Indrasara Thera, and many devotees including the convener of the National Heritage Protection Convention Bodhi Nanda Gunathilake participated in this event.
