Prime Minister’s Secretary meets the Vice Chairman of China’s Henan Provincial Committee.

A meeting between the Chinese representatives headed by Mr. Pradeep Saputhanthri, the Prime Minister’s Secretary, and Mr. Liu Jiongtian, the Vice Chairman of the Advisory Committee of Henan Province of the People’s Republic of China, was held at the Prime Minister’s Office yesterday morning (05).

As stated by the Prime Minister’s Secretary, the historical link between Henan Province and Sri Lanka has grown out of cultural ties that date back to the early days of the Silk Route.

Mr. Liu Jiongtian explained to the Prime Minister’s Secretary how modern agricultural technology, renewable energy products, electric vehicle and mobile phone manufacturing industries, and other technological innovations in Henan Province contribute effectively to the province’s economy.

Attention was also paid to the possibility of developing continuous relations between the two countries through professional, technical, educational, and higher education sectors, through tourism and cultural exchange programmes, and through new economic collaborations.

Mr. Ren Wei, Director General of Henan Provincial Cultural Heritage Bureau, Mr. Ai Fan, Deputy Director General of Henan Provincial Foreign Affairs Office and Mr. Guo Hua, Deputy Director of Henan Provincial Asian and African Affairs, and Mr. Harsha Wijewardene, Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister also participated in this event.
