The High Commissioner of India meets the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

His Excellency Santhosh Jha, High Commissioner of India, met Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya at the Prime Minister’s office on 11 August 2025.

The Prime Minister welcomed the High Commissioner of India and highlighted the importance of building stronger cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of Education. The Prime Minister further highlighted the need of the training programme for officials in the education field to develop the skills in the area of leadership and planning, and pointed out the urgent need to address the teacher shortage of Tamil medium. A Discussion between the All-Island Sasanarakshaka Bala Mandalaya and the Prime Minister

A discussion between the Prime Minister and the Chair person of the All-Island Sasanarakshaka Bala Mandalaya, Most Venerable Professor Thubulle Seelakkhanda Nayaka Thero, along with other members of the Maha Sangha, was held at Temple Trees.

The discussion focused on a number of challenges and issues currently faced by Dhamma schools.

On the occasion of the annual Aadi Vel Festival of the Shri Kathirvelayuthaswamy Kovil in Sammankodu Colombo, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya participated in the religious ceremony today (07th), by offering a pooja tray to the Ther chariot during its street procession near the Temple Trees premises.

Led by nadaswaram music, the Prime Minister walked towards the Vel chariot and respectfully presented the offering tray. Following this, a special religious pooja was conducted by ven. Ramesh Kurukkal on a special platform set up in front of Temple Trees, invoking blessings for the Prime Minister and the country. After the blessing ceremony, accompanied again by traditional nadaswaram music, the Prime Minister was ceremonially escorted back to Temple Trees by the festival’s organizing committee. New Board of Officials Appointed to the Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO

Appointment to the Sri Lanka National Commission for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) was held on July 29 at the Ministry of Education, Isurupaya, Battaramulla, with the participation of the Prime Minister.

The Ambassador of Netherlands to Sri Lanka who concluded her term of service visits the Prime Minister

Her Excellency Bonnie Harbach, who served as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Sri Lanka, met with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya today (28) at the Prime Minister’s Office, prior to concluding her term of service and departing the country.
