Mr. H.E. Yusuf TEKIN, Minister of National Education of the Republic of Turkiye, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, on 24 July at Parliament.

Welcoming the Minister, the Prime Minister recalled the longstanding friendship and cooperation between Sri Lanka and Turkey, particularly in the sphere of economy, global trade and education. During the meeting, the Prime Minister highlighted the new proposals in education put forward by Turkey.

Dr. Nadisha Chandrasena, who received the 2025 WIPO “Global Award for Intellectual Property,” presented by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), a United Nations agency dedicated to intellectual property, innovation, and creativity met with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya on July 21.

Dr. Chandrasena’s “Smart Drainage System” concept, developed as a solution to open drainage systems clogged by plastic and polythene waste, was selected as a winner at the WIPO Awards Ceremony held in Geneva, Switzerland. Her innovation stood out among 780 organizations from 95 countries.

The 2025 Annual Esala Perahera of the Yudaganawa Raja Maha Viharaya in Buttala concluded its street possession yesterday (19).

Certificate Exchange for the Provision of School Uniforms to All Government and Government-Assisted Schools for the Year 2025.

The official announcement that the total required quantity of school uniform fabric worth LKR 5,171 million for the year 2025 has been fully provided as a donation by the Government of China was made on July 16 at the Ministry of Education in Battaramulla, with the participation of the Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Vocational Education, Prime Minister, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

Inauguration ceremony of the National Programme “Artha” realizing another promise of the government.

In line with the President’s vision that no child should be left behind and the future well-being of all children must be ensured, one of the strongest commitments included in the election manifesto of the National People’s Power (NPP) government has now taken its first step toward realization with the official launch of the “Artha” National Programme.

Sri Sobitha Nahimigama Housing Project Handed Over to the Public.

The official handover of the Sri Sobitha Nahimigama housing project to its beneficiaries took place on July 12 at Oyamadua, Elpathagama in the Anuradhapura District, with the participation of Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya.

During the event, 115 houses under the project were handed over to the public and the housing project was implemented with the support of the Commemoration Foundation of the Most Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero, the current government, and the Government of India.
