A meeting between the Maldives Speaker and the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka.

A meeting between the Speaker of the Maldives Parliament Hon. Mohamed Aslam and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena took place on 18.01.2024 at Temple Trees.

The Prime Minister and the speaker recalled the relationships and diplomatic relationships secured between the two countries since time immemorial which have never been broken.

The speaker expressed his views on the intellectual contribution of Sri Lankans to the Maldives education sector. Many Sri Lankan teachers are working in pre-schools and schools in the Maldives.

The speaker also said that Sri Lanka has been nominated to our standing committee from the Asia region.

The Prime Minister said that accurate statistics are required to strengthen the economy and further he stated that Aswasuma benefit is for the betterment of low income people. Nattaranpotha Kala Puraya, Kandy for Prime Minister’s observation 17.01.2024

The Naththarampotha kala Puraya of Kandy is an artistic haven full of new creations by traditional artisans in a variety of traditional handicrafts made of brass, laaksa, silver, dumbara patterns etc. Currently the Kala Puraya also trains new artisans.

The Naththarampotha Kala Puraya on the banks of Mahaweli River in Dumbara Valley can be described as a place of revival of local industries that started with the people’s revolution in 1956.

Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena met the residents of Mandaram Nuwara today (2024.01.15) without prior notice.

A special Aswesuma unit for each divisional secretariat.

A special discussion was held today (2024.01.08) at Temple Trees regarding the implementation and recovery of Aswasuma Welfare Benefit Scheme.

It was decided to resolve all appeals for the year 2023 by January 31st 2024, to call for new appeals for the second round by the first week of February 2024, to create a special appeals unit for each divisional secretariat and to appoint an officer for it at the village level.

Prime Minister welcomes new Indian High Commissioner and assures continuous cooperation

New Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha called on Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the Temple Trees today (December 29). They held a detailed discussion on economic ties and cooperation between the two countries and examined ways and means of expediting the proposed joint projects.
