A meeting between the Global Development Chair including the delegation of the American Gates Foundation and the Prime Minister was held on 11th of July at the Parliament.

During the meeting, Dr. Chris Elias, Global Development Chair of the Gates Foundation, mentioned that this was his first visit to Sri Lanka and expressed his gratitude for the invitation extended to participate in this important discussion at the Parliament.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya stated that the National Photographic Art Society of Sri Lanka is a distinguished institution that has created professional opportunities both locally and internationally for the youth of Sri Lanka.

The Prime Minister made this remark while participating in the 75th Anniversary of the National Photographic Art Society of Sri Lanka and the 21st International Photography Exhibition, held today (05) at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.

During the event, international honorary titles were awarded to outstanding individuals in the field of photography.

The Human Development Report for the year 2025, issued under the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), was officially presented to Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya on June 19.

The theme of this year’s Human Development Report is "People and Capabilities in the Age of AI (Artificial Intelligence)." The report discusses how artificial intelligence should be used responsibly and ethically.

The primary objective of the report is to highlight how AI can be utilized to empower public imagination, and thereby contribute to shaping the economy of a country and society in the process of development.
